RadioPL for Apple TV Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
Last updated: October 7, 2026
RadioPL for Apple TV ("the app") is an Apple TV app for listening to Polish radio stations. It is made by Szymon Stephan-Sikora, an independent developer ("I", "me", "my"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where that information goes, and the choices you have. RadioPL for iPhone and iPad has its own privacy policy.
The Short Version
- I do not collect your personal data. RadioPL has no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of its own.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no analytics, and no crash-reporting services. It does not track you across apps or websites and does not use the advertising identifier.
- Your data stays with you. Your favorites, listening history, and songs heard are stored on your Apple TV. If you use iCloud, they sync through your own private iCloud account. I cannot see that data.
- No microphone, camera, location, or contacts access. The app never asks for these permissions.
- I only receive information if you email me. If you contact me, I receive whatever your email contains.
1. Information Stored on Your Apple TV
RadioPL keeps the following on your Apple TV so the app works the way you expect:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Favorite stations and their order | Show your favorites |
| Recently played stations and play counts | Show your recents and suggest stations |
| Songs heard (song title, artist, station, and time) | Show your Songs Heard list |
| Custom stations added on your iPhone or iPad (name, stream address, website, color) | Play stations that are not in the built-in list |
| Last station played | Resume playback, or play on launch if you turn that on |
| App preferences ("Play Last Station on Launch", "Rewind While Listening", sleep timer length, clock settings) | Remember your settings |
| Total listening time and number of tips given | Decide when to show a thank-you message in Settings |
| Cover art addresses for songs | Show album art without looking songs up again |
| A record of the last 20 stations that failed to play (station, time, and error) | Help the app handle broken streams. This record stays on your Apple TV and is never sent anywhere |
Station logos are downloaded and cached on your Apple TV to make the app faster.
Top Shelf. When RadioPL is in the top row of your Home Screen, it shows your current, last played, favorite, and recently played stations, along with the song playing now. To do this, the app shares that information with its Top Shelf extension through a shared container on your Apple TV. That container stays on your Apple TV.
Rewind and pause. If Rewind While Listening is set to On Wi‑Fi (the default) or Always, the app keeps up to the last 30 minutes of the station you are playing in memory so you can rewind and catch up. When you pause, the app keeps recording the station in memory for up to 30 minutes so you can continue where you left off. It does this even if Rewind is off. This audio is never saved to storage, shared, or exported. It is discarded when you stop playback, switch stations, or after 30 minutes.
Multiple users. If your Apple TV has more than one user, RadioPL keeps its library in the iCloud account of the person who is signed in to Apple TV at the moment.
2. iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud on your Apple TV, these items sync between your devices through Apple's CloudKit service:
- Favorite stations
- Recently played stations
- Songs heard
- Custom stations
This data is stored in the private database of your own iCloud account. I cannot access, view, or export it. Apple handles storage and sync under the Apple Privacy Policy. The order of your favorites and your other preferences are not synced and stay on your Apple TV.
3. Third-Party Services the App Connects To
RadioPL has to contact other servers to work. When it does, those servers can see standard connection information, such as your IP address, along with the generic system information that every tvOS app sends (for example, the tvOS networking library version). RadioPL does not add any identifier, account information, or personal data to these requests.
Radio broadcasters
When you play a station, the app connects directly to that broadcaster's streaming server, or to a streaming provider the broadcaster uses. That is how internet radio works. Each broadcaster's own privacy policy covers how it handles connection data. If you play a custom station, the app connects to the address you entered for it.
Station logo hosts
Logos are downloaded from the broadcasters' websites and from public image hosts such as Wikimedia, Google, TuneIn, Apple, and similar content delivery networks. Like any website you visit, these hosts receive your IP address when an image is downloaded.
Apple services
- Cover art. To show album art for the song playing now and in Songs Heard, the app automatically sends the song's title and artist, along with your Apple TV's region, to Apple's public iTunes Search service. Results are cached on your Apple TV so each song is looked up only once.
- SharePlay. If you start SharePlay on a FaceTime call, the app shares the station you are playing (its name and identifier) with the people on the call so you can listen together. Custom stations are never shared. Apple handles SharePlay under its privacy policy.
- Siri. You can ask Siri to play a station. To give you better suggestions, the app tells the system which stations you play from inside the app. These donations stay on your device and are handled by Apple.
- Tips. You can leave an optional tip in Settings. Tips unlock nothing. Apple processes the payment through the App Store. I do not receive your name, payment details, or Apple Account information.
- iCloud. See Section 2.
These Apple services are covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
QR codes
Some screens show a QR code, for example to find a song in Apple Music, open a station's website, or email me. The app creates these codes on your Apple TV. It sends nothing when it shows a code. If you scan one, your phone opens the link, and that service's privacy policy applies.
4. Contacting Me
You can scan the QR code in Settings to write to me from your phone, or email me directly. When you do, I receive your email address, your name (if your mail app includes it), and whatever you write. The Apple TV app does not attach diagnostics or any other information to your message.
I use your email only to reply to you and to improve the app. I don't sell it, share it, or add you to a mailing list. I keep messages only as long as I need them to help you, and you can ask me to delete our conversation at any time.
5. What I Do Not Do
- I do not sell, rent, or trade any information.
- I do not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services, whether my own or from a third party.
- I do not track you across apps or websites, and I do not use the advertising identifier.
- I do not build profiles about you.
- I do not access your microphone, camera, location, contacts, or photos.
- I do not send notifications. The app uses silent system pushes only so that iCloud sync can stay up to date.
6. Your Choices and Deleting Your Data
Inside the app, you can:
- Clear Recently Played in Settings
- Clear Songs Heard in Settings, or choose Remove from History on a single song
- Remove stations from your favorites
- Turn off "Rewind While Listening" and "Play Last Station on Launch" in Settings
If iCloud sync is on, deletions also apply on your other devices. Custom stations are added and deleted in RadioPL on your iPhone or iPad.
To remove everything:
- Delete the app from your Apple TV. This removes all data stored on that Apple TV.
- To remove synced data, delete RadioPL's data from iCloud storage on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. On iPhone, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage (the exact name varies by version).
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct, delete, or move it, the right to object to or restrict processing, and the right to withdraw consent. Such rights exist, for example, under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
Most RadioPL data never reaches me. It stays on your Apple TV or in your private iCloud account, and you control it directly as described in Section 6. The only personal data I might hold is email correspondence. To exercise your rights over it, email me at the address below. I will respond within the time required by applicable law.
For users in the EU and UK: For email correspondence, I am the data controller. My legal basis for processing it is my legitimate interest in answering your questions and supporting the app (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Poland, that is the Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO).
For California residents: I do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
8. Children's Privacy
RadioPL is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has emailed me personal information, contact me and I will delete it.
9. International Users
I am based in the United States. If you email me, your message will be processed in the United States and by my email provider. Data synced through iCloud is stored by Apple according to Apple's policies.
10. Security
RadioPL connects over HTTPS wherever the broadcaster supports it. Some radio stations only offer unencrypted (HTTP) audio streams. For those stations, the audio stream itself is not encrypted, but no personal data is sent over it. iCloud data is protected by Apple's security measures.
11. Changes to This Policy
If the app's data practices change, I will update this policy and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, I will also mention them in the app's release notes.
